The Canadian Underwater Conference and Exhibition (CUCE) will be held in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, on 26-28 April 2020. The Diver Certification Board of Canada (DCBC), which has presented the CUCE annually for the past 10 years, has confirmed that from now on the conference will be a biennial affair.
DCBC also confirmed that the conference will continue to move around the country. “The goal is to ensure that as many members of the underwater industry as possible can participate in this unique national conference,” said a spokesman.
Conference venues will include St John’s or Halifax on the east coast, Toronto in central Canada, and Vancouver or Victoria on the west coast. “DCBC has held the conference in those venues in the past and have found that they are popular with conference attendees, partly because those cities are well served by international air carriers and offer a wide selection of hotels for visitors,” said the spokesman.
He added: “The CUCE has been well received and attended by industry professionals over the past 10 years, consistently attracting approximately 30 exhibitors, 15 sponsors, 22 technical presentations and 200 attendees. It is expected that the pent-up demand created by the one-year hiatus will lead to another successful event in 2020 in St John’s.”
