100 years ago
In May 1916, after careful studies underwater in the Pacific Islands and off the Californian coast, Mr Zarh H. Pritchard presented an exhibition at the American Museum of his paintings representing life and scenery at the bottom of the sea. Mr Zarh H. Pritchard also gave an illustrated account of his work during the exhibition.

 

150 years ago
At the meeting of the Ipswich Dock Commission on 7 July 1866 it was reported that a diver had been employed to examine the lower portion of the dock gates. The leakage from the north inner gate was found to be between the lower part of the gate and the sill against which it closed.
